My Approach and Services

What I Want My Clients to Know

No matter where you've been and what you've gone through, your experience, feelings, and concerns are valid. This is the most important truth I want all of my clients to know.

Your sessions are a safe space where there is no judgment. It is a space of collaboration between the two of us as you work towards the goals you set. We explore what brings you to our shared space and work towards healing and growth. You pick the pace and direction as you are ready.

I am a compassionate counselor that utilizes mindfulness, awareness of the body, IFS Informed therapy, and sometimes EMDR, to help you bring more perspective to old wounds, achieve a greater understanding of all the parts of you, and give an empowered voice to your authentic self. I'm here to connect as a fellow sensitive, deep thinker with compassion; and I will cheer you on, while also honoring space for you to feel safe. The best part of my job is when my clients experience moments of clarity that bring empowering peace.

20-25% of my caseload is therapists. New therapist clients often tell me (something like), "I'm a therapist and I've been in therapy for years. I know what to do. Why am I still suffering?" Often established therapist clients say (something like), "I didn't know this kind of healing was possible." And me? Until I discovered it myself, I didn't know either. Therapists tend to be deep thinkers and deep feelers. I'm here for that, and I'd love to help you find more peace.
Musicians are a unique breed. Performance comes with its own set of pressure, anxieties, and challenges. You have to fit in the box but also out of the box. You have to follow the rules but also be original enough to break them…but just enough. Not too much. Then there’s the competition, the failures, the successes. It’s a lot to juggle, to process, and to walk through it all intact. Musicians often come to me and say they just can't take the anxiety anymore and need to find a way to overcome it. As a singer myself, I can understand many of the intricacies of navigating the music world. As a therapist, I love helping my musician clients to really explore the anxieties and help you find and help the internal challenges that get in the way of external success as musicians.
Anxiety can overpower everything. Sometimes it's hard to even see through it, to see what's behind it. It can be overwhelming and exhausting. Perhaps you've already been in therapy and know all the tools, but they're just not working the same. I'd love to help you work through the fog and find deep healing, so you don't have to be exhausted by the anxiety or by working so hard to keep it at bay. I've worked with musicians, professionals, caregivers, students, parents, and more on anxiety relief.
Painful experiences have a way of creeping from the past into the present. It doesn't have to remain that way. We can work to bring healing to the hurt so you can feel more peace. Along the way, it's important to me that we move at a pace that feels safe to you.
Sometimes, as much as we know what we want to shed from our upbringing, from our relationships with our caregivers, we just can't seem to let it go. We learn new ways to do things, to grow, do better, and maybe to forgive or set boundaries, but the "stuff" is still there. I'd love to help you explore what's holding you back, heal what's been hurt, and help you find an authentic way to move forward in a way that works for you.
Sometimes, when everything becomes overwhelming, depression comes in. Sometimes it's overwhelming. Sometimes the overwhelm becomes so big that it turns into an emptiness that can feel just as miserable as the overwhelm. Maybe you've been through the cycle of depression before and see it's coming back. In our work together, we can safely explore what is causing the depression to come in, how it's affecting you, and how you can help it so that it doesn't have to be so big and overwhelming. So you can find relief.
You know you've achieved a lot but want to step into continued growth. We can dig deep to explore the space you'd like to move into so you can express who you are more authentically and freely.
Whatever your challenges are, the work that I do with clients is more than finding ways to manage and cope, but to actually heal from the places that hold great distress for you in your life, for long-lasting relief.
Internal Family Systems is changing the world of therapy and healing. It goes beyond coping skills, beyond mindfulness, to deep internal healing that can change both your internal and external world.
All are welcome in my virtual office. About 50% of my clients are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. It is absolutely a safe space to be who you are.
